Most QuickBooks integrations for AI stop at reading reports. Caribooks covers the whole ledger, in both directions:

- Read (always on) 35 reports: profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow, trial balance, aged receivables and payables, general ledger, budget vs actuals, tax summary, each filterable by class, location, customer, vendor or period. Search across customers, vendors, invoices, expenses, journal entries, tax payments and recurring templates, and list everything that changed since a date.
- Write (off until you enable it, per company) create and update invoices, record payments, draft estimates, enter and pay bills, categorize expenses, post journal entries, issue credit memos and refunds, create budgets, recurring templates, transfers, credit card payments and time entries, maintain customers, vendors, items, classes and accounts.
- Send, void, delete emailing an invoice or receipt to the customer, voiding an invoice or payment, deleting a record: each one only on an explicit confirmation in the conversation.

Does QuickBooks have an official MCP server?

Yes. Intuit publishes a free, open-source MCP server on GitHub, and it's good. It runs locally on your machine: you create an Intuit developer account, manage API keys, and keep a process running. If you're a developer comfortable with that, use it.

Caribooks is for everyone else, and for a few cases the local server doesn't cover:

Tools like Coupler or Windsor sync QuickBooks data into spreadsheets and dashboards. Useful for reporting; nothing to do with delegation. They can't create an invoice, chase a late payment, or post a journal entry. An MCP connector puts the assistant inside the workflow, with your permission model deciding what it may touch.

Two of them exist. The Claude connector is one click but covers the sales side plus a P&L and a cash flow statement. The developer server reaches the whole ledger, but it runs on your machine and needs an Intuit developer app and an OAuth callback first. Caribooks is the second one's reach with the first one's setup: 35 reports, as many company files as you connect, in English or French.
