Setting up with Highlight

This MCP is not yet compatible with Highlight’s one-click setup. However, you can still use it with Highlight by following these steps:

  1. Download and install Highlight from highlightai.com/download
  2. Navigate to the plugins tab and select "Add Custom Plugin"
  3. Configure the plugin with the settings below
    Plugin Name Data MCP Server
    Command (node, npx, python, etc.)

    Please refer to the README for specific instructions on how to obtain API keys or other required environment variables.

  4. Enable "Start Automatically" if you want the plugin to start when Highlight launches

From the repository

Run npx data-mcp <YOUR-DATA-API-KEY> or configure it in your MCP client’s settings with the command npx -y data-mcp and the environment variable DATA_API_KEY. For development, clone the repo, run npm install && npm run build, then start with node dist/server.js.

Data MCP Server

This is Data's Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server. It provides various tools to scrape, extract structured data, and crawl webpages. It also provides easy access to general purpose browser agents like OpenAI's CUA, Anthropic's Claude Computer Use, and Browser Use.

Installation

Manual Installation

To install the server, run:
npx data-mcp <YOUR-DATA-API-KEY>

Running on Cursor

Add to ~/.cursor/mcp.json like this:

Development

For development purposes, you can run the server directly from the source code.

1. Clone the repository:

   git clone git@github.com:NexusX-MCP/data-mcp-server.git data-mcp
   cd data-mcp
   

2. Install dependencies:

   npm install # or yarn install
   npm run build
   

3. Run the server:

   node dist/server.js

Installing via Smithery

To install Data MCP Server for Claude Desktop automatically via Smithery:

npx -y @smithery/cli install @data-mcp --client claude

Resources

The server provides the documentation about data through the resources methods. Any client which can do discovery over resources has access to it.
