Setting up with Highlight

This MCP is not yet compatible with Highlight’s one-click setup. However, you can still use it with Highlight by following these steps:

  1. Download and install Highlight from highlightai.com/download
  2. Navigate to the plugins tab and select "Add Custom Plugin"
  3. Configure the plugin with the settings below
    Plugin Name Meerkats.ai MCP Server
    Command (node, npx, python, etc.)

    Please refer to the README for specific instructions on how to obtain API keys or other required environment variables.

  4. Enable "Start Automatically" if you want the plugin to start when Highlight launches

From the repository

Clone the repository, install dependencies (npm install), create a .env file with your Meerkats.ai API key, and build the project (npm run build). Then add the server to your MCP settings configuration file, specifying the command (node), the path to the built index.js, and environment variables for MEERKATS_API_KEY, SCRAPPER_API_URL, and SCRAPPER_CALLBACK_API_URL. Tools are invoked via use_mcp_tool with parameters such as url, wait, or query.

Installation

1. Clone this repository
2. Install dependencies:

   npm install

3. Create a .env file based on .env.example and add your Meerkats.ai API key
4. Build the project:
   npm run build

Available Tools

scrape_url

Scrape a URL and return the content as markdown.

Parameters:
- url (required): URL to scrape
- wait (optional): Time to wait in seconds before scraping
- query (optional): Query to search for on the page

rss_feed

Process an RSS feed and return the content.

Parameters:
- url (required): URL of the RSS feed
- wait (optional): Time to wait in seconds before processing

google_search

Search Google and return the results.

Parameters:
- query (required): Query to search for on Google
