Setting up with Highlight
This MCP is not yet compatible with Highlight’s one-click setup. However, you can still use it with Highlight by following these steps:
- Download and install Highlight from highlightai.com/download
- Navigate to the plugins tab and select "Add Custom Plugin"

Configure the plugin with the settings below
Plugin Name
shortcut-mcp-serverCommand (node, npx, python, etc.)Please refer to the README for specific instructions on how to obtain API keys or other required environment variables.
- Enable "Start Automatically" if you want the plugin to start when Highlight launches
From the repository
Install dependencies with bun install and start the server with bun run packages/mcp-server/src/index.ts. The server requires Bun (v1.2.2 or later) to run.
Claude Desktop / Cursor
Paste into your MCP client config file to install this server.

To install dependencies:
bun install
To run:
bun run packages/mcp-server/src/index.ts
This project was created using bun init in bun v1.2.2. Bun is a fast all-in-one JavaScript runtime.
Coding style
Ensurebun typecheck and bun check pass. You can run bun fix to format the code.
To use the git hooks in the repo's .githooks folder, which will save you from waiting for CI to tell you that you forgot to these commands, run this:
git config core.hookspath .githooks
