Setting up with Highlight
This MCP is not yet compatible with Highlight’s one-click setup. However, you can still use it with Highlight by following these steps:
- Download and install Highlight from highlightai.com/download
- Navigate to the plugins tab and select "Add Custom Plugin"

Plugin Name

- Enable "Start Automatically" if you want the plugin to start when Highlight launches
From the repository
Install dependencies with npm install, build with npm run build, then configure in Claude Desktop by adding the server to claude_desktop_config.json with either a local path or npx command. The server requires an OPENWEATHERMAP_API_KEY environment variable.

Adding Components
The project comes with an example tool in src/tools/ExampleTool.ts. You can add more tools using the CLI:

Publishing to npm
1. Update your package.json:
- Ensure name is unique and follows npm naming conventions
- Set appropriate version
- Add description, author, license, etc.
- Check bin points to the correct entry file
2. Build and test locally:
npm run build
npm link
weather-mcp-s # Test your CLI locally
3. Login to npm (create account if necessary):
npm login
4. Publish your package:
npm publish
After publishing, users can add it to their claude desktop client (read below) or run it with npx

Building and Testing
1. Make changes to your tools
2. Run
npm run build` to compile3. The server will automatically load your tools on startup
